The best part of an indoor adventure is that the same room can be somewhere different tomorrow. Today, the playhouse is a lookout above the trees and the slide is the quickest way back to camp. Tomorrow, there might be a map to follow and a crew waiting in a camper van. The Mogli Slide Playground gives children a setting they can return to and reinvent, bringing the movement and excitement of an outdoor adventure into the playroom.
Designing a whole world around Mogli starts with making space for what happens before and after the slide. A table gives children somewhere to sketch the route, a chair makes it easy for a friend to join, and a bedroom can carry the story into bedtime. The American Academy of Pediatrics’ guide to pretend play explores how children make these worlds their own by inventing characters and deciding what happens next. CIRCU’s One Playroom, More Than One Way to Play shows how spaces for movement, drawing and quieter play can sit side by side.
The Mogli Slide Playground gives the adventure its most active setting. Inspired by The Jungle Book, the design pairs a playhouse with a slide, giving children a place to imagine a scene and act it out. The playhouse might become a lookout where they decide which way to go, while the slide brings them back to the playroom floor to continue the story. Walnut and matte finishes bring a softer, natural note to the room, which can be carried through in the surrounding colours and materials.
The Marshmallow Activity Table II is where the adventure can begin with a piece of chalk. Children can draw directly on its round blackboard tabletop, marking a river, naming a campsite or leaving clues for a friend to follow. Placed near Mogli, the table gives the playroom a place to pause between turns on the slide. When the next story takes them somewhere new, they can wipe away the old route and draw another.
The Bonbon Chair completes the activity area around Marshmallow. Its velvet upholstery brings a softer texture alongside the table’s blackboard surface, and its glossy lacquered legs offer a way to repeat a colour from the slide or the surrounding décor. A pair of chairs gives children somewhere to sit together and agree on the route, while a single Bonbon beside a low bookshelf can make a quieter corner for reading when the playroom settles.
The Bun Van carries the adventure from the playroom into the bedroom. Inspired by Fillmore, the camper van from Disney’s Cars, it houses a bed, a sofa, a desk and storage within its distinctive silhouette. The same map drawn at Marshmallow can come along for an imaginary road trip, then be tucked away with the day’s treasures. When it is time to sleep, the van becomes the place where little adventurers can settle in and pick up the story tomorrow.
