Starting with a compact shaped cube, the design of the Beth Rivka\u00a0School\u00a0merges the benefits and the creative constraints of a vertical building. In fact,\u00a0ODA\u00a0tackles the challenges and potentials of stacked programs and complex verticality. In their approach for the Beth Rivka\u00a0School, the designers made sure to put in place \u201c<em>more outdoor space to connect inside and outside worlds,\u00a0<\/em><em>voids shaped and treated as real spaces, gaps taking advantage of orientations, in-between spaces controlled to prevent leftover areas<\/em><em>, organized layout to maximize walkability.<\/em>\u201d Every element of this composition is independent and stands on its own.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1832 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.circu.net\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/The-Beth-Rivka-School-by-ODA-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"870\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.circu.net\/inspirations-old-wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/The-Beth-Rivka-School-by-ODA-1.jpg 870w, https:\/\/www.circu.net\/inspirations-old-wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/The-Beth-Rivka-School-by-ODA-1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.circu.net\/inspirations-old-wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/The-Beth-Rivka-School-by-ODA-1-768x384.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\"><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 213,000 square-foot building introduced also the concept of a 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0fa\u00e7ade, \u201c<em>in the surfaces that define avoid<\/em>\u201d, generating a blurry area, a semi-public space, and a gap of possibilities. Actually, these voids created original experiences and a new dimension. The project consists of a high school, a pre-k, and a community centre, attached to the existing four-story, L-shaped, still functional elementary school. Conventional spaces include classrooms, administration, library, and labs whereas more progressive educational spaces are conceived for video, art and multipurpose rooms. The pre-k also has a distinct entrance opening up to a gathering hall and a playground on its roof. In this part of the school, experimental learning happens in an informal setting, in the four spheres of play.
