Contemporary Design<\/em> \u2013 Some of the Best Designers Influenced by Italy\u00a0\u21d2<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Italy is pretty much everywhere when it comes to having an influence on the work of many of the most important\u00a0Contemporary Designers<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0we know today. Italian or not these four personalities have known Italian design close by heart, and have put it into practice. And today we\u2019re showing you four good examples!<\/p>\n

Karim Rashid<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is considered one of the most\u00a0creative contemporary designers<\/strong>\u00a0of his generation. Over 3000 designs in production, over 300 awards and working in over 40 countries show that Karim is a legend of design.<\/p>\n

His award-winning designs include luxury goods for\u00a0Christofle<\/strong>,\u00a0Veuve Clicquot<\/strong>, and\u00a0Alessi<\/strong>, democratic products for Umbra, Bobble, and 3M, furniture for\u00a0Bonaldo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Vondom<\/strong>, lighting for\u00a0Artemide<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Fontana Arte<\/strong>, high tech products for Asus and Samsung, surface design for Marburg and Abet Laminati, brand identity for Citibank and Sony Ericsson and packaging for Method, Paris Baguette, Kenzo and Hugo Boss.<\/p>\n

Patricia Urquiola<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Patricia Urquiola<\/strong>\u00a0(1961) was born in Oviedo (Spain) and currently lives in Milan. She studied\u00a0architecture<\/strong>\u00a0at the Polytechnic of Madrid where she graduated in 1989. Between 1990 and 1996 she worked for the development office of new products of \u201cDe Padova\u201d and signed with\u00a0Vico Magistretti<\/strong>\u00a0the products: \u201cFlower\u201d, \u201cLoom sofa\u201d, \u201cChaise\u201d and \u201cChaise Longue\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In 2001 she opened her own studio in Milan, focused on\u00a0product design<\/strong>\u00a0and architecture. Since her long career started Patricia won many\u00a0design awards<\/strong>, such as Antares-Flos, Artelano, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Kartell. In addition to attending events, conferences and lectures she has been an active collaborator for brands such as\u00a0B&B, Bosa<\/strong>,\u00a0De Vecchi<\/strong>,\u00a0Fasem<\/strong>,\u00a0Kartell<\/strong>,\u00a0Liv\u2019it<\/strong>,\u00a0MDF Italy<\/strong>,\u00a0Molteni & C.<\/strong>,\u00a0Moroso<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Tronconi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Her products were selected for the\u00a02001 Design Exhibition<\/strong>\u00a0in Italy and for the\u00a0Annual International Design Catalog<\/strong>\u00a0of 1999 and 2001. She is one of many\u00a0contemporary designers\u00a0<\/strong>who\u00a0currently conducts her professional career at her own craftsmanship studio in Milan in the fields of design, exhibitions, art direction and architecture.<\/p>\n

Dimore Studio<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Emiliano Salci<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Britt Moran<\/strong>\u00a0invested in the fields of Design, Art and Fashion, and founded\u00a0Dimore Studio<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in 2003. Since then, these duos of\u00a0contemporary designers<\/strong>\u00a0designed and carried out every project with their own unique signature style: pieces created by\u00a0historical design master\u00a0artisans<\/strong>\u00a0merged with domestic materials and other modified objects to forge a singular atmosphere.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their research is focused on details which make every new creation\u00a0exquisite<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0sophisticated<\/strong>. Dimore Studio interprets memories and creates dreams, crossing the boundaries between art and design, fashion and architecture. In Milan, both\u00a0Dimore Gallery<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Dimore Studio<\/a>\u00a0are obligatory stops for design aficionados, regardless if it\u2019s during Milan Design Week or any other time of the year.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Campana Brothers<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The duo of brothers Fernando (b. 1961) and Humberto (b. 1953), are, undoubtfully, prodigies of\u00a0contemporary design<\/strong>. They were born in Brotas and started working together in 1983 in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil, where they still live and work at\u00a0Studio Campana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite being two of the\u00a0best contemporary designers<\/strong>\u00a0in the world, their lives weren\u2019t always in that path. Humberto studied to be a lawyer but decided that his true passion was sculpting. Fernando decided to study architecture but soon wanted to work with his brother and create\u00a0innovative<\/strong>\u00a0and groundbreaking\u00a0furniture design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The world started to notice their true talent in 1991 when they developed the\u00a0\u201cFavela Chair\u201d<\/em>, made from scraps found in a S\u00e3o Paulo shanty town. From there, they brought to life \u201cVermelha Chair\u201d<\/em>,\u00a0\u201cCone Chair\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cEstrela Lamp\u201d<\/em>. In 1998 they became the\u00a0first Brazilian artists<\/strong>\u00a0to showcase their work at the renowned Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, along with the German lightning design\u00a0Ingo Maurer,<\/strong>\u00a0in an exhibition called \u201cProject 66\u201d, curated by\u00a0Paola Antonelli<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

In that year they also started a partnership with the Italian brand\u00a0Edra<\/strong>. Every year, the brothers launch new works of art and concepts in collaboration with international brands such as Alessi, Artecnica, Bernardaud, Baccarat, Corsi Design, Consentino, Nodus, Magis, Moleskine, Skitch, Plus Design, Venini, and Trousseau, among many others.<\/p>\n
