A Geometrical Children\u2019s Playground by French Designer<\/em> Olivier Vadrot<\/em>\u00a0\u21d2<\/strong>\u00a0The French designer Olivier Vadrot has created an\u00a0open-air\u00a0playground\u00a0made of geometric structures that encourage\u00a0children\u00a0to socialise, in the northeastern outskirts of Paris.\u00a0<\/span>Settled in\u00a0La Passerelle\u00a0in the district of\u00a0Roissy-en-France, the playground features three elements \u2013 the Ventriloquist\u2019s Throne<\/strong>, the Pink Cockpit<\/strong> and the Council Seats<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Named\u00a0Conversations<\/a>, the project aims to provide a special space for kids to exchange ideas, tell tales and play around. \u201cThey oscillate between sculptures and functional objects,\u201d said Vadrot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea was to create something monumental and durable that resists time, but more importantly children!\u201d Vadrot told Dezeen. \u201cThe resulting monolithic shapes let children climb, run around and hide behind them, as they would do with trees or rocks, but they also invite them to start and stage conversations in different ways, stimulating fictional stories connected to the symbolic shapes of the pieces: a throne, a cockpit, and a council of the wises,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The first structure is the Ventriloquist\u2019s Throne that consists of a double seat divided by a tall,\u00a0cocooning structure with elevated sides. Made of volcanic stone from the\u00a0Auvergne region in France, the tall backrest has a five\u00a0centimetre, circular hole.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the Pink Cockpit features a large, cone-shaped body with three recessed, arch-shaped seats that are connected by four holes for children to peer through and communicate. It is made of sandstone from the Vosges region in France.<\/p>\n

Finally, the\u00a0Council Seats feature ten cylindrical stools of various sizes arranged in a circle \u201caround an imaginary fire\u201d. \u201cLike a miniature Stonehenge, the latter is a place to exchange ideas, tell stories, debate and play,\u201d explained Vadrot.<\/p>\n
