Remember watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as a kid, and wishing – hoping and dreaming beyond all belief – that such a magical place would actually exist in the real world? Well you’ll be glad to know all those dreams are about to come true. YEAH, I KNOW, RIGHT? See how Willy Wonka chocolate factory inspired a restaurant’s decoration.
As if the Universal Studios in Orlando wasn’t spoiling us enough with the imminent arrival of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in April they’re also about to create a Willy Wonka-inspired restaurant resembling the very chocolate factories we saw in the films. This is truly, truly magical.
The Toothsome Chocolate Factory, as it’s been named, doesn’t have a confirmed opening date yet, but Universal Orlando have confirmed it’ll be “later this year” and that’s good enough for me.

By the looks of the photos and the description on Universal’s blog post, the restaurant is going to have that industrial, factory-type feel along with a shit-load of chocolate. There’ll be “towering smoke stacks, funky gadgetry, and staff wearing unique Steampunk fashion,” apparently, which is already whetting our appetite and we’ve not even got started on the food.
The restaurant plans to serve hearty dishes including steak, seafood and pasta, but with a “unique twist” which we’re assuming is going to be some form of chocolate. MMMMMM. But aside from all that, it’s the puddings we’re really interested in. Because who goes to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory restaurant to eat savoury food?
Here’s some of the milkshakes that’ll be on offer: Chocolate x5: An explosion of chocolate with chocolate spirals, chunks, ice-cream and whipped cream.Bacon Brittle: A fun twist on a breakfast favorite with bacon ice cream, bacon brittle, chocolate covered bacon and bacon caramel.Espresso Buzzzz: A coffee lover’s dream with coffee ice-cream and chocolate covered beans.Red Velvet: A milkshake topped with a Red Velvet cupcake… enough said.Key Lime Pie: We’ve taken this classic Florida dessert and turned it into a delicious shake. You’ll even get a slice of pie on top!
God, is it lunchtime yet? There’s no word yet on whether there’ll be a chocolate river, an inventing room, or a television room (we see you, Mike Teavee) but whatever exciting stuff it contains, we’re sure it’s going to look (and taste) great.
